Guest Toastie 05: Signe Johansen’s Norwegian-Inspired Jarlsberg, Ham & Green Chilli Melt

The Drop and Two Drops are delighted to welcome their next guest toastie: the ‘Jarlsberg, Ham & Green Chilli Melt with Hazelnuts & Herbs’ by acclaimed Scandinavian food writer and cookbook author Signe Johansen.

Running from Monday 1st September to Friday 31st October, this warming, comfort-driven toastie celebrates Signe’s Norwegian heritage through melting Jarlsberg cheese whilst embracing quintessentially British flavours – roasted ham, Colman’s mustard powder and a dash of Worcestershire sauce. Elevated with toasted hazelnuts, fresh herbs, finely chopped shallots and a green chilli kick, it’s a sophisticated take on comfort food that feels both familiar and excitingly new.

“As we head into autumn, I wanted to create something that felt like a warm hug – the kind of toastie that nods to my Norwegian roots while embracing the British pantry staples I’ve come to love living in London. There’s something wonderfully comforting about melting Jarlsberg with good ham, but the hazelnuts and herbs lift it into something special.
