Guest Toastie 06: Condiment Claire’s Grilled Cheese with Candied Jalapeño & Spiced Plum Jam

The Drop and Two Drops are thrilled to announce a Christmas toastie collaboration with author, cook, creator and host Claire Dinhut – also known as Condiment Claire – who, for the last of the 2025 series, presents a Grilled Cheese with Candied Jalapeño & Spiced Plum Jam.

Running from Saturday 1st November to Wednesday 31st December, this recipe from the American edition of Claire’s bestselling debut ‘The Condiment Book’, makes its UK entrance. A combination of salty, tangy, slightly spicy and a little sweet, embodies Claire’s love for the unexpected flavour pairing. Candied jalapeños are generously layered onto sourdough with Juraregal cheese, grilled until golden and oozing. And, for a Christmassy twist (and in true condiment lover form) the toastie will be served with a plum jam, spiced with cinnamon and star anise, for dunking. Claire Dinhut says:

“This cheese toastie is reminiscent of my favourite childhood bites in the US, a mish mash of salty, sweet, and spicy. I love an interesting cheese and jam pairing so why not shove both in between two slices of golden buttery bread?!
