Producer story

Adrian Pike

Adrian Pike, Ortega Classic Ferment, Kent, England

What do you do after calling time on running a record label that has produced the likes of Bloc Party, Hot Chip and Florence and the Machine? Well, have a drink, probably. And then buy a vineyard in Kent when the opportunity arises.

This was certainly the case for Adrian Pike, founder of Moshi Moshi Records, who now runs the Westwell Estate in conjunction with viticulturist Marcus Goodwin. Adrian learnt the ways, and difficulties, of organic farming while attending Plumpton College – a lesson that he has put into effect on his south-facing slope in the Kent Downs.

Farming responsibly, in a practically organic style that balances low intervention with protected yields, the wines at Westwell have been growing increasingly bold and experimental as Adrian’s roots have taken hold. You’ll find Adrian’s Ortega Classic Ferment 2017 flowing through our taps and we can’t wait to start pouring our way through the rest of Westwell’s exciting, and in some instances fluorescent, portfolio.
